Reading
It is very important that your child reads to you every day. The more reading your child
does in and outside of school will help your child become a more fluent reader. The
BAS reading assessment will be given 3 times throughout the year. Our goal is that
each child will improve his/her reading by at least 4 levels.

It is very important for your child to practice his/her addition and subtraction facts at
home. We are following the Everyday Math program this year. You can access the
EM4 math website at home for your child to review each day’s math lesson or to play
the math games that we play in the classroom.

The spelling lists this year are a combination of 2 nd grade high frequency words and
words from the phonics lessons. Please help your child practice his/her words to
prepare for the spelling tests at the end of the week.
